How to survive in your business working from home?

Internet job is a well established fact in many countries and in Spain, the government itself has said recently that one of the ways out of the economic crisis, is because companies are more flexible schedules and offer their employees the option of having their work at home.

Working from home saves money by internet companies, also is a big advantage for all those employees who need to actively reconciling work and family life.

However, make money online is not just about being home and "meet". The teleworker, especially if you have never been before, to develop new habits and skills that result in both their personal benefit and that of his company. What skills are we talking about? INC.com magazine tells of five characteristics.

1. Be proactive and share objectives

When you have a home based job, it's easy to lose perspective. Managers and middle management of the company can keep scoring goals, deadlines, projects that work etc. but people who have home based jobs are at risk of merely fulfilling tasks, follow the guidelines of a project without being involved in the "conversation".

To INC.com is important that teleworkers do not lose that proactivity leads them to propose ideas, create their own projects, share their personal objectives and recommend solutions that may or may not affect their daily work.

Work from home can lead workers to be more introverted, to be limited to "comply". However, it is desirable that these same workers not only enjoy the comfort of your home, but are still active members of the organization.

2. Staying connected

When we work from our "home office" is very easy to hide what we do or fail to do, precisely because of the technology or the lack thereof.

When a firm makes it possible for a worker to do your work at home internet, you are giving a vote of confidence that the latter should not disappoint.

One way to do that is kept always accessible. This does not mean I have to work more hours, but to show that it can be always contacted during working hours, notify when it will not be available during these hours (or even why) and finally, do know how you can contact us at emergency. Yes, it is clear that working from home gives us more freedom, but in the same way we also have to take more responsibility.

Knowing that they will always be able to count on us, because we are connected, that vote of confidence reinforces that we spoke at first.

3. What matters are the results

In many companies often instituted a culture of presenteeism, which has little to do with productivity or efficiency in an organization.

However when we use at home, no matter how long it takes us or the hours we're at the computer. What is relevant is only if we meet our goals, if we are efficient, if they offer good results. If we do it right, to end our time in our "home office" becomes irrelevant.

4. Eager to learn

In many cases, the teleworker aims to complete specific tasks, work on projects very well defined in his room for maneuver is really limited.

For this two reasons (work at home and work on very specific projects), often miss many opportunities for continuing education and / or internal training offered by the company, in addition to losing certain positions in their career development.

Again, it is up to them to be proactive, asking these training opportunities, the learning of all that is baked on the premises, not to miss any opportunity to acquire new knowledge.

5. Becoming indispensable

Imagine that as a result of the crisis (or other circumstances), the company I work is "forced" to lay off part of its workforce. Who do you think is easier to fire? Does the person you see every day, with which they share coffee and talk ... or that another which relate only through Internet?

In an ideal world should prevail factors such as productivity, results, etc. but we know that in the real world this is not always the case. So instead of complaining, we should do everything possible to be indispensable, even if we live on the other side of the planet.
